    Pablo Picasso regarded him as a "mother hovering over," Henri Matisse as "father to us all." “Painting from nature is not copying the object, it is realizing one’s sensations.” Sun 28th Sept 7pm - Mont Sainte Victoire 1902-04 In this gently guided session we'll try out some of the techniques that the great artists used to define their unique styles. We'll aim to replicate one of their classic works. We may choose a whole painting or a section to complete and you will enjoy an evening creating something similar to a great master! What do I need?   • Paint Like...Vanessa Bell

    In 1906, Vanessa Bell started to think of herself as an artist, she went on to form the Friday Club to create a community in London that was supportive of painting. Bell was encouraged by the Post-Impressionist exhibitions organised by Roger Fry, and she reproduced their bold forms and vivid colours in her artworks. In 1914, she turned to Abstraction.   • Paint Like...Turner

    Turner is perhaps the best-loved English Romantic artist. He became known as 'the painter of light', because of his increasing interest in brilliant colours as the main constituent in his landscapes and seascapes. His works include water colours, oils and engravings. Turner was born near Covent Garden in London and entered the Royal Academy Schools in 1789. His earliest works form part of the 18th-century topographical tradition. He was soon inspired by 17th-century Dutch artists such as Willem van der Velde, and by the Italianate landscapes of Claude and Richard Wilson. Since April 2020 we estimate that Liddy has taught close to 500 online art sessions In her own words: "From as long as I can remember I have always dreamt about being an artist and illustrator. My passion has always been for art and I have always enjoyed being creative. Some of my fondest childhood memories are those spent with my siblings creating stories, drawing illustrations and making books. I guess it was from here that a profound love for all things creative was born and nurtured."

  • In the Style of...Ghibli

    Drawing on styles and technique you will be guided through this session to create an original version of your own Totoro Studio Ghibli, Inc. is a Japanese animation studio based in Koganei, Tokyo. It has a strong presence in the animation industry and has expanded its portfolio to include various media such as short subjects, television commercials and two television films. Their work has been well received by audiences and recognized with numerous awards. Their mascot and most recognizable symbol, the character Totoro from the 1988 film My Neighbor Totoro, is a giant spirit inspired by raccoon dogs and cats - Wikipedia Mon 15th Sept 7.30pm - Totoro We will look at examples of the artist's work to gain an understanding of the characteristics and traits of their work and how we might carry that forward and use similar methods in our own work What do I need?     An evening of artistic endeavour and delicious dining in the heart of MK city centre at the warm and welcoming Middleton's restaurant, our evening will begin with glass of Prosecco (beer and soft drinks are also available) then Liddy will guide you to achieve the best from your creativity and complete a fabulous watercolour painting. When the brushes are downed and your paintings framed, Middleton's fabulous kitchen will serve your delicious meal. All equipment, materials and frame, meal and first drink are included. Friday 12th July 7pm - Highland Cow (watercolour) Liddy uses her own relaxed style and will show you plenty of tips and tricks to get the best from your pencil and paintbrush! All materials are provided too. Just settle in and have fun!     Van Gogh is today one of the most popular of the Post-Impressionist painters, although he was not widely appreciated during his lifetime. He is now famed for the great vitality of his works which are characterised by expressive and emotive use of brilliant colour and energetic application of paint. The traumas of his life, documented in his letters, have tended to dominate and distort modern perceptions of his art. Liddy left teaching to start her own business Something Less Boring in 2017 to bring art and sport to a wider audience Liddy lives in Buckinghamshire delivering art and creative drawing workshops as well as relaxing Sip & Paint evenings. She also produces contemporary abstract art and papercut work, undertaking commissions too.

    Join Liddy online to paint "Black Lab" partly inspired by Max - the best dog in the world in this gently guided acrylic art class. What do I need?   • The Eight Belles Weekly Art Club

    A friendly, social, guided art session at The Eight Belles, Bletchley. Grab yourself a coffee to boost creative process as you begin a gentle, fun couple of hours of art. Every Tues 12.15pm. We provide all the materials, equipment, guidance and hot drink too. Our weekly sessions tend to be based around watercolour painting, but we also occasionally include illustrations with pencils, marker pens and gouache Course Tutor - Liddy graduated from Derby University in 2005 after gaining a BA Hons Degree in Illustration.
