  • Remote Art Club - Dandelion Clocks

    Join Liddy online to paint Dandelion Clocks, Liddy's stylised acrylic painting in this gently guided art class What do I need? We try to keep the requirements very simple to ensure the sessions are as accessible as possible For this Watercolour session: Watercolour set/paints that includes primary colours with black and white Coloured Pencil Crayons Optional - Watercolour Pencils A range of brushes as above Optional - a black drawing pen Watercolour paper or a thicker paper (to absorb the paint) For Acrylic sessions: Acrylic paints that include primary colours plus black and white A selection of three brushes – flat brush, medium round brush and a detail brush will suffice Canvas, canvas board or cardboard (primed with white paint) We usually work to approximately A4 size, but feel free to use whatever is your preference You’ll also need a pot(s) of water and a cloth or kitchen towel If you’d like to paint in a different medium than the session is advertised as, please mention to Liddy at the start of the Zoom meeting and she will provide the additional guidance About the tutor: Liddy is the creative force and main tutor with Something Less Boring.   • Paint Like...Thiebaud

    Wayne Thiebaud (1920-2021) is now considered to be one of the greatest and most original American artists of the 20th century. Over the course of his long life, working mainly in Sacramento, California, Thiebaud developed a unique style of painting to express his vision of modern American subjects. (Courtauld Gallery) Sun 8th March 7pm - Boston Cremes Sun 28th June - Tulip Sundaes In this gently guided session we'll try out some of the techniques that the great artists used to define their unique styles. We'll aim to replicate one of their classic works. We may choose a whole painting or a section to complete and you will enjoy an evening creating something similar to a great master! What do I need? We try to keep the requirements very simple to ensure the sessions are as accessible as possible ​ Acrylic Sessions (such as Paint Like...): Acrylic Paint - Primary Colours plus black and white (we will guide for colour mixing) Brushes - As a basic rule you will just need a range three or four different sized brushes, small, medium and large Brush examples (but not definitive) Flat Brush (1/2 inch or larger), Round Brush (No2 and No4 and No8) Canvas or Canvas Board or Cardboard (prepared with white paint) in terms of size, the choice is yours, but as a guide A4 paper size or bigger ​ Watercolour: Watercolour set that includes primary colours with black and white A range of brushes as above Watercolour paper or a thicker paper (to absorb the paint) ​ For both: You'll need a pot of water, a cloth and a smile!

  • Art in the Park - Watercolour

    Now open to visitors as a museum and heritage attraction, Bletchley Park during World War Two was home to thousands of remarkable men and women whose top-secret codebreaking work had a major impact on the conflict and laid the foundations of modern computing. But life at Bletchley Park wasn't all work. Staff were actively encouraged to get creative and spend time together, from music groups and sport teams to amateur dramatics and art classes. Now it's your turn to be part of that tradition. Join us for a watercolour class in the beautiful grounds of Bletchley Park, inspired by the creativity of the wartime staff who painted here before you. Wed 1st July 11.30am - Art in the Park - Watercolour Guided by art tutor Liddy, from Something Less Boring, you'll begin with gentle drawing exercises before bringing the Lake and Mansion to life in watercolour. Whether you're a complete beginner or a more experienced artist, this class will help you improve your sketching and watercolour painting in a relaxed session, with as much guidance as you would like, with the freedom to enjoy the moment and see what you create. During the summer there will be necessary conservation work in progress at Bletchley Park, more information can be found - https://www.bletchleypark.org.uk/conservation/ All materials are provided, but you're welcome to bring your own sketchbook or purchase one when you buy your ticket.     Discover the beauty of watercolour painting in this day course course at the National Trust Dunstable Downs is perfect for those who are new to watercolour painting or for those who want to sharpen their skills. Liddy will guide you through the techniques and materials used in watercolour painting with the aim to create a beautiful and stunning evening sky. We have scheduled this day course's to coincide with dusk, so, weather permitting, we may be inspired by a delightful Downs sunset. Thurs 5th November 3pm The small group course is designed for beginners and improvers, but no experience is expected.     A founder member of the Blue Rider, the art group at the heart of German Expressionism that also included Kandinsky and Franz Marc, Münter developed a spontaneous painting method that captured the essence of things. In this gently guided session we'll try out some of the techniques that the great artists used to define their unique styles. We'll aim to replicate one of their classic works. We may choose a whole painting or a section to complete and you will enjoy an evening creating something similar to a great master! She completed her PGCE before embarking on a 10 year secondary school art teaching career in Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. She is currently undertaking a course in the History of Art. Liddy left teaching to start her own business Something Less Boring in 2017 to bring art and sport to a wider audience Liddy lives in Buckinghamshire delivering art and creative drawing workshops as well as relaxing Sip & Paint evenings. She also produces contemporary abstract art and papercut work, undertaking commissions too.
