- Brewpoint - Weekly Art Club
We love coming to Brewpoint so much, we decided to make a weekly visit too! Running from 10am to 12noon we'll provide all the materials for you to paint the week's theme, expertly guided by Liddy. Grab yourself a coffee, have a natter and get creative...maybe stay for a spot of lunch? Our weekly art clubs are very relaxed and social there's no necessity to join us every week to enjoy the sessions we will fully work through a painting at each morning event. Each week will be a different subject based within a broad three week plan, we don't advertise the subject to allow for last minute changes and suggestions from the group, which we welcome. Course Tutor - Liddy graduated from Derby University in 2005 after gaining a BA Hons Degree in Illustration. She completed her PGCE before embarking on a 10 year secondary school art teaching career in Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. She is currently undertaking a course in the History of Art. Liddy left teaching to start her own business Something Less Boring in 2017 to bring art and sport to a wider audience Liddy lives in Buckinghamshire delivering art and creative drawing workshops as well as relaxing Sip & Paint evenings. She also produces contemporary abstract art and papercut work, undertaking commissions too.

"Sheep have always had some special meaning for me, more so than cows or horses; whether it is that I saw them as a boy in parts of Yorkshire landscape or whether it's from reading the Bible in early childhood where sheep have a mention, and not horses for instance, I really would not like to say." – Henry Moore In this gently guided session we'll try out some of the techniques that the great artists used to define their unique styles. We'll aim to replicate one of their classic works. We may choose a whole painting, drawing or a section to complete and you will enjoy an evening creating something similar to a great master! We try to keep the requirements very simple to ensure the sessions are as accessible as possible Smooth or watercolour paper HB Pencil and or biro Eraser To add colour try watercolour: Watercolour set that includes primary colours with black and white A range of brushes as above Watercolour paper or a thicker paper (to absorb the paint) For both: You'll need a pot of water, a cloth and a smile! Join Liddy as she guides you to complete an acrylic painting based on a single photograph What do I need? We try to keep the requirements very simple to ensure the sessions are as accessible as possible Acrylic paint - primary colours plus black and white A small selection of brushes - retail brush, medium round, flat brush med/large Canvas, canvasboard, cardboard or non absorbant paper - approximately A4 size Pot of water Pencil Cloth If you’d like to paint in a different medium than the session is advertised as, please mention to Liddy at the start of the Zoom meeting and she will provide the additional guidance About the tutor: Liddy is the creative force and main tutor with Something Less Boring. She is a qualified Illustrator and also a qualified teacher. After attaining her university degree in Illustration in 2005, Liddy then taught art for over 10 years at secondary school level before leaving to found Something Less Boring in 2017 with the aim of bringing art and sport to all ages regardless of ability in a fun, creative and inclusive way. Since April 2020 we estimate that she has taught close to 500 online art sessions In her own words: "From as long as I can remember I have always dreamt about being an artist and illustrator. My passion has always been for art and I have always enjoyed being creative. Some of my fondest childhood memories are those spent with my siblings creating stories, drawing illustrations and making books. I guess it was from here that a profound love for all things creative was born and nurtured."

You are free to take as much guidance as you like, but we certainly won't restrict your creative flair By the end of the evening, you will have some new skills and your own piece of wall worthy art. Please arrive around 10 minutes before the event begins Our events are recommended for anyone over the age of 14 . However, please advise in the booking notes us if you are booking for anyone under the age of 18 as each venue has different licensing rules. John Constable was an English Romantic painter. Born in Suffolk, he is known principally for his landscape paintings of Dedham Vale, the area surrounding his home - now known as "Constable Country"- which he invested with an intensity of affection. "I should paint my own places best", he wrote to his friend John Fisher in 1821, "painting is but another word for feeling". Dive into the world of needle felting with our Robin & Holly workshop. Over two hours in this relaxing felting class, you will learn the art of transforming something as simple as wool into a stunning masterpiece. Don't worry if you've never tried felting before - this workshop is designed for beginners. Our experienced instructor Liddy will guide you through each step, ensuring that you feel confident and inspired. With her expert guidance, you'll learn how to fuse wool fibres into beautiful shapes and blend colours to create depth and texture. We provide all the materials plus blank card to mount your finished piece. We will provide tea, coffee and sweet treats but please feel free to bring along your own refreshments too if you prefer
- Art in the Park - Watercolour
Now open to visitors as a museum and heritage attraction, Bletchley Park during World War Two was home to thousands of remarkable men and women whose top-secret codebreaking work had a major impact on the conflict and laid the foundations of modern computing. But life at Bletchley Park wasn't all work. Staff were actively encouraged to get creative and spend time together, from music groups and sport teams to amateur dramatics and art classes. Now it's your turn to be part of that tradition. Join us for a watercolour class in the beautiful grounds of Bletchley Park, inspired by the creativity of the wartime staff who painted here before you. Wed 1st July 11.30am - Art in the Park - Watercolour Guided by art tutor Liddy, from Something Less Boring, you'll begin with gentle drawing exercises before bringing the Lake and Mansion to life in watercolour. Whether you're a complete beginner or a more experienced artist, this class will help you improve your sketching and watercolour painting in a relaxed session, with as much guidance as you would like, with the freedom to enjoy the moment and see what you create. During the summer there will be necessary conservation work in progress at Bletchley Park, more information can be found - https://www.bletchleypark.org.uk/conservation/ All materials are provided, but you're welcome to bring your own sketchbook or purchase one when you buy your ticket. Tickets include entry to Bletchley Park for the entire day, but please arrive at the site at least 15 minutes before the class begins. This class is recommended for anyone over the age of 14.
